When I first saw a video on youtube that had the word “unboxing” in the title, I thought it was the dumbest and most stupid idea for a video I’ve ever seen.  Why do I want to watch this 12 year old open or “unbox” his new ipad???  However, I continued to see more and more of these types of videos appear.  I couldn’t believe it.  The craziest part about it was how the “unboxing of playstation 37” and other related electronic videos had thousands of views.  Some had hundreds of thousands and a few were in the millions.  What the hell is going on???

So I did a search on the new cell phone I actually just got.  I typed in the search bar “unboxing samsung note 2” and of course dozens of videos appeared.  I picked one that had a lot of views and was under 10 minutes.  There were some that were over 30 minutes long and there was no way in hell I would sit and spend that much time watching an “unbox.”  Well, no joke, ten minutes later I was clicking on play to watch the 30 minute clip.  Now I was able to see why so many people watch these stupid videos of people actually opening up something they just bought.  Actually, I wasn’t able to see and I have no idea why either.

Mentally, It was like the feeling you get when it’s your day off and you see other people at their job working really hard.  There is that comfort knowing if you really wanted to, you could go home and take a nap.  Is that just me who thinks like that?  Everyone while working wishes they could be “that person” with the shorts and t-shirt on during a Monday afternoon in the summer…..Shouldn’t this person be at work too god dammit.  Lucky bastard…

Let me explain the concept really quick for those who don’t know about these videos, but for some reason kept reading up to this point.  It’s literally a 12 year old boy taking an unopened brand new electronic item and describing every little piece of detail about the box and what’s in the box.  This includes: size, color, shape, weight, any pictures, verbiage and more about just the box at this point.  Then he opens the box and explains how he opened it and shows you what you see when you first open the box.  Then all items are pulled out one by one and then the detailed description of all these items begin.  The end.  Yup, that’s exactly what happens and you somehow get brainwashed into watching it.

Obviously, there is only 1 good reason to watch this crap and it’s if you are in the market for that type of item and want to know all about it.  Trust me, you’ll know if you want it after these nerds are done brainwashing you.

The MAJOR issue I have is only 1 out of every 100 videos are able to be viewed.  This is because the person behind the camera will get on your nerves within the first 2 minutes.  For example, the camera is all over the place, cats are walking through the shot, family members or roommates are talking in the background, his voice is just annoying, they laugh or giggle after everything they say when nothing funny happened and others that I can’t think of right now.  On the other hand, you have the kids who make it look like they are on a real show and they are the host.  For example, fancy editing, perfect fading with camera, giving pointers on a 60″ flat screen in the background and by the way who is paying for all this shit????

Last but not least, this is the 1 thing that DRIVES ME F&^King Crazy!!!  At the end of EVERY one of these videos they all say “Don’t forget to subscribe.  It’s very important that you subscribe below.  It really helps me out a lot when you subscribe.  I put an arrow down below on the screen right now pointing to the subscribe button.  All you have to do is click it once and it helps me out so much.  Thanks for watching and lastly please subscribe below.”

I need some help here please and need to know why these kids are begging people to do this.  I recently thought that maybe by having a certain amount of subscribers, companies will give them free crap to demo and make unbox video for it.  Am I on the money here?  Are they getting paid?  The reason for my assumption is because it’s the same 12 year old who is making all the videos on different EXPENSIVE items.  We are talking about tablets, computers, phones and more.  It’s crazy and I hope my assumption is wrong because I will be pissed if it’s true.  These kids need to be outside playing in the woods building forts like I was instead of sitting around and making a documentary.

I thought it would be nice to make an unboxing video on a completely different type of product.  Hope you enjoy.  DONT FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE!!!
